Here are some commonly asked questions to provide you with a better understanding of the therapy process. If you have more specific inquiries, feel free to get in touch.
Is therapy private?
Yes, therapy sessions are confidential. There are limits to this confidentiality, in accordance with reporting guidelines set by the CRPO (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario), that are discussed in depth and need to be agreed upon before treatment can begin. These limitations are re-visited and explained throughout treatment as necessary, as informed consent is an ongoing process.
What is the duration of therapy sessions?
The "therapeutic hour" is 50-minutes in duration. This allows time between sessions for scheduling, water re-fills, and jotting down notes, so we can meet you on time for your sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of therapy sessions required varies for each person and is determined by personal goals, progress, and the complexity of the issues addressed. It's a collaborative process, and together we'll establish the most suitable treatment plan for your unique circumstances.
How much does a session cost?
Sessions are $170 an hour, which means that 30-minute sessions are $85 and 90-minute sessions are $255. As of 2024, psychotherapy services are exempt of HST, so there are no added taxes to session prices.
Do you offer sliding scale sessions?
Limited sliding scale slots are available on an as-needed basis, and may be re-evaluated based upon financial need and therapist discretion. Sliding scale rates vary based on need, availability, and circumstances. If you have questions or would like to inquire about sliding scale sessions, please email lorecounselling@outlook.com.
Do you accept insurance?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for psychotherapeutic session, however coverage varies by provider and plan. It is recommended that you reach out to your provider in advance the extent and requirements of your coverage. Due to administrative limitations, it is the responsibility of clients to file their insurance claims, however Lore Counselling provides clients with complete receipts directly to their email upon payment, and in their secure portal clients can easily access summaries of services provided and all of their receipts.
